THE ITALIAN GRAPE (96)
The Saffredi 2012 is a masterpiece from the heart of Maremma. Crafted to perfection, this wine pays homage to its 25th anniversary with an extraordinary expression of finesse and depth. It masterfully balances a refreshing vibrancy with the complexity that has earned its iconic status. On the nose, Saffredi 2012 greets you with an intense and captivating bouquet, where dark chocolate and leather dominate, enriched by subtle nuances of spice and earth. The palate follows with remarkable elegance, offering layers of ripe black fruit, velvety tannins, and a lingering finish that speaks of the wine's impeccable structure and aging potential.
FALSTAFF (95)
Bright intense ruby with purple tinge. Clear and intense nose, showing notes of mint, then lots of currant and plum, very polished. Compact on the palate, as if from a single mould, but never becomes overpowering, instead retains a nice flow, finely meshed tannins.

The winter was cold, transitioning into a predominantly wet spring with occasional warm, dry spells. Despite the rainfall, the wet conditions did little to replenish soils still parched from the previous year’s drought. As a result, the vines naturally adapted by yielding a small quantity of thick-skinned fruit. Towards the end of spring and the start of summer, a brief period of rain occurred, but hot and dry weather quickly resumed. Between May and September, the region experienced its second driest period on record.
