Burlotto
Burlotto is a historic winery located in the small town of Verduno, within the renowned wine-producing region of Piedmont, Italy. The winery's history dates back to the mid-19th century when Giovan Battista Burlotto, a visionary vintner with a passion for winemaking, founded the estate in 1850. Initially, Burlotto focused on producing wines from local grape varieties, particularly Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera.
Throughout its history, Burlotto has been known for its commitment to traditional winemaking practices, emphasizing quality over quantity. The estate's vineyards are situated on the slopes of the Langhe hills, where the combination of soil composition, elevation, and microclimate contributes to the production of high-quality grapes.
Despite facing numerous challenges over the years, including economic downturns and shifts in consumer preferences, Burlotto has persevered, guided by a steadfast dedication to preserving its heritage while adapting to the demands of the modern wine market. Under the stewardship of successive generations of the Burlotto family, the estate has continued to refine its winemaking techniques, blending time-honored methods with innovative approaches to elevate the quality of its wines.
In recent times, Burlotto has experienced a resurgence in popularity, garnering acclaim from wine critics and enthusiasts alike for its elegant and expressive wines. Under the leadership of the Burlotto family, particularly current winemaker Fabio Alessandria, the winery continues to uphold its legacy while also embracing innovation and modern techniques to further enhance the quality of its wines.
Today, Burlotto stands as a testament to the enduring tradition of winemaking in Piedmont, producing wines that capture the essence of the region's rich viticultural heritage while also exemplifying the pursuit of excellence in every bottle.
