Roberto Voerzio
Even though Roberto Voerzio has not been active as a wine producer for very long, he is one of the most famous wine producers in Piedmont, Italy. Roberto Voerzio's wines are mainly known for their rich flavors with less strong tannin notes, such as the very famous Roberto Voerzio Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata 1998, a powerful and rich red wine that has received very good reviews from international reviewers!
The history story of Roberto Voerzio began in 1986, when a young man named Roberto Voerzio inherited five hectares of estate in la Morra from his father's vineyard. This small town is located in the Langhe, a district known for its many historic vineyards. The winery's estate covers a plot of land of approximately nine hectares, which mainly features Nebbiolo vines, followed by Barbera, Merlot and Dolcetto. A striking feature of Roberto Voerzio is that this winery not only bottles the regular 0.75 liter bottles, but also produces very large wine bottles with a capacity of no less than 12 liters.
Roberto Voerzio produces five different types of wine: Barolo; Dolcetto d'Alba; Barbera d'Alba; Langhe; and the blend called Vigna Serra. The vineyards are maintained according to a biodynamic methodology. The vines are fertilized with cow manure, without including chemical pesticides, and when the grapes have reached the right age they are harvested manually. The first 50% of the grapes are harvested in July and a second dilution takes place in August. The fermentation process is carried out in stainless steel tanks for 10 to 30 days. An exception to this is the Dolcetto, which is fermented in wooden barrels. After fermentation, a small amount of sulphites are added, after which the wines are bottled unfiltered.
