Tenuta Sette Ponti
The Sette Ponti vineyard, situated near Arezzo amidst the picturesque landscape of Chianti Classico, derives its name from the seven bridges traversed by motorists journeying from Arezzo to Florence. Originally planted by Archduke Leopold of Habsburg, the vineyard's ownership lineage includes a stint under the ownership of the Savoy family dynasty. However, it wasn't until 1935 that the vines were specifically cultivated for the production of Chianti Vigna di Pallino, a tradition that endures to this day.
In the mid-1990s, a new chapter unfolded for the estate as Antonio Moretti assumed its reins from his father Alberto, who had initially acquired the property in the 1950s with a vision that extended beyond viticulture. Antonio, with a portfolio boasting several other esteemed estates across Italy, embraced his role with fervor. Recognizing the potential for excellence, he assembled an international team of experts to spearhead the vineyard's transformation, elevating its reputation for quality wines.
Under Antonio's guidance, notable creations such as Crognolo, primarily crafted from the Sangiovese grape, and the revered Oreno, a blend predominantly comprising Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, were introduced to critical acclaim. Bolstering his efforts, Antonio enlisted the expertise of Oenologist Carlo Ferrini, renowned for his innovative contributions to the Tuscan wine scene. The estate sprawls across 330 hectares, with over 50 hectares dedicated to vine cultivation. Amongst these, the historic Vigna dell'Impero, planted in 1935, stands as a testament to the vineyard's enduring legacy. With a commitment to sustainability, the majority of the vineyards received organic certification starting from the 2020 vintage.

Emboldened by his success in Chianti, Antonio ventured into Bolgheri, establishing Podere Orma in 2005. Here, amidst the gravel and clay soils adjacent to the Tyrrhenian Sea, Orma wines began to flourish, embodying the essence of the region with their distinctive character and style. Notably, the Supertuscan Orma has garnered widespread acclaim, earning accolades from critics such as Robert Parker and Gambero Rosso.
Situated on southwest-facing slopes, the vineyards of Podere Orma benefit from the tempering influence of the nearby sea, fostering an ideal microclimate for grape cultivation. With an average vine age of ten years and a density of around 7,000 vines per hectare, the vineyards are meticulously tended to ensure optimal fruit quality.
As anticipation mounts for the future of Podere Orma, enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike eagerly await the release of new vintages, each bottle promising to epitomize the essence of Bolgheri winemaking. The Orma wines have swiftly emerged as exemplars within their category, embodying not just the denomination of Bolgheri, but its essence and style.
